TCC selects Karen Moore to chair Presidential Search Committee

Tallahassee Community College’s Presidential Search Committee has elected Karen Moore, a member of the College’s District Board of Trustees, to lead the search for TCC’s eighth president.

Moore, who recently completed a term as Board chairwoman, will lead the 13-member committee that includes college faculty, administration, classified staff and student government, as well as a member of the TCC Foundation’s Board of Directors and the heads of the chambers of commerce in Leon, Gadsden and Wakulla counties – the three counties that make up TCC’s service district.

“I am honored to work with this committee to ensure Tallahassee Community College’s reputation for innovation and academic excellence continues to grow and to support the needs of our region’s businesses and residents,” said Moore.
Moore was appointed to TCC’s Board of Trustees in 2007 by Governor Charlie Crist, and previously served as president of the TCC Foundation Board, chairing the College’s first capital campaign.

FAMU honors Karen Moore with 2010 Women in Business Award

Florida A&M University’s Small Business Development Center and the Big Bend Business Week Committee honored Moore Consulting Group Founder and CEO Karen Moore with the 2010 Women in Business Award at its annual Capital Region Small Business Week Awards Gala in Tallahassee.

“I am honored to be recognized by these distinguished organizations, ” said Moore. “Together with the rest of the honorees, I know we will continue to collaborate to create a strong and vibrant business community in Tallahassee.”

Moore Consulting Group works SMARTER, wins award

The TalTech Alliance recently honored Moore Consulting Group with its 2010 SMARTER Business Award, created to highlight local Tallahassee businesses that are successfully engaging their customers in meaningful dialogue and providing the highest level of service through social media.

Moore Consulting Group has developed and implemented online and social media campaigns on behalf of clients in the tourism, health care, automotive, non-profit and workforce arenas. The firm also engages in its own online outreach to stay connected to clients and contacts in the community and around the globe, including through the MCG website, e-newsletter, Facebook, Twitter and blog.

The award was presented during the 2010 Tech Expo, held at the Tallahassee Community College Center for Workforce and Economic Development and attended by nearly 200 area business leaders. Moore Consulting Group was chosen from more than 30 nominees for this year’s SMARTER Business Award.

Audrey Stone named co-president of American Advertising Federation of Tallahassee

Moore Consulting Group Senior Account Executive Audrey Stone was recently elected to serve as co-president of the American Advertising Federation-Tallahassee (AAF-T) chapter for the 2009-2010 board year. Audrey has served on the board of directors for three terms and co-chaired the organization’s most high-profile event, the ADDY® Award competition, for two years. She also served on the program and media auction committees for the last two board terms.

Audrey will work with the AFF-T board and members to ensure the organization continues to educate and engage the Tallahassee communications community through monthly meetings, special events and professional development opportunities. Tod Thomas of Thomas, Duran & Associates will also be serving as co-president for the 2009-2010 board year.

Shannon Colavecchio joins Moore Consulting Group team

Moore Consulting Group, Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of Shannon Colavecchio as director to our award-winning communications team. Colavecchio comes to Moore Consulting Group from the St. Petersburg Times, where she served as a reporter covering politics and education from the Times' state bureau in Tallahassee. She previously worked in Gov. Charlie Crist's communications office as deputy press secretary and speechwriter. Colavecchio’s areas of expertise include media relations, community relations, legislative affairs, education, and fitness and health.

“Shannon’s experience within media and within state politics and communications are a great asset to the Moore team,” said Karen Moore, CEO and founder of Moore Consulting Group. “We look forward to the strong skills and energy she brings to the firm and our partners and clients.”

A Florida native, Colavecchio covered a broad range of topics while working for the state’s top newspaper. She reported on everything from local and state law enforcement to K-12 education and the state university system. She was part of the Times’ Capital bureau, the largest and most highly regarded source for state news. It was Colavecchio’s reputation for fairness, accuracy and enthusiasm that helped her secure a valued post within Gov. Crist’s administration. Her energy and dedication extends to the Tallahassee community she calls home. Colavecchio mentors for Leon County Schools, and she is a certified indoor cycling instructor and personal trainer, leading boot camps and classes and authoring a popular fitness blog.

Moore Consulting Group Kicks off 2010 Sunshine Census Campaign

Moore Consulting Group is pleased to be a part of the 2010 Sunshine Census integrated public awareness campaign. In partnership with Ketchum public relations, ESP Media and The George Group, we are committed to outreach to communities across the state as we encourage Floridians to take part in the 2010 Sunshine Census.

Moore Consulting Group serves as the lead reporting agency to the Executive Office of the Governor on outreach to target audiences awarded to the Moore/Ketchum partnership. The firm also leads efforts on outreach to Florida’s college and university students and aids in outreach to rural populations.

ESP Media is targeting African American and Caribbean American populations throughout Florida.

The George Group is targeting residents of Florida’s rural counties.

Ketchum is targeting Florida’s part-time residents.

The goal of the 2010 Sunshine Census integrated public awareness campaign is to combine the strengths of local governments, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, schools, media, businesses, and others, to ensure a complete and accurate 2010 Census.

Terrie Ard named among “25 Women You Need to Know”

Moore Consulting Group Senior Vice President Terrie Ard, APR, CPRC, was named one of Tallahasse’s “25 Women You Need to Know” by the Tallahassee Democrat as part of their annual celebration of women’s leadership and contributions in the community. This honor is given each year to 25 women in the greater Tallahassee area who display leadership in both their professions and in the community.

In addition to her role at Moore Consulting Group, Terrie Ard chairs the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce's Professional Women's Forum and serves as past president of the Florida Public Relations Association Capital Chapter.

Terrie is a Tallahassee native and a Florida State University alumna. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband, TJ, and 22-month-old daughter Jacqueline.

Jim Hunt Talks Social Media with Association of Fundraising Professionals

Jim Hunt, Vice President of Business Development at Moore Consulting Group, was the featured speaker at the Big Bend Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) monthly meeting in February. Hunt discussed various social media strategies as well as the value of integrating social media tactics into traditional outreach efforts for non-profit organizations.

Tallahassee-based Moore Consulting Group, one of the top 100 integrated communications firms in the nation, is welcoming 2010 with a series of 10 exclusive opportunities for area organizations to receive senior-level communications counsel. The “10 in 2010” program, in partnership with the Tallahassee Democrat and the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce,  is part of the firm’s community outreach efforts.  Moore Consulting Group will provide a one-on-one session with a different organization each month to brainstorm solutions to their communication challenges.

Karen Moore appointed to FL CURED Advisory Council

Moore Consulting Group founder and CEO Karen Moore, APR, CPRC has been appointed by State Surgeon General Ana Viamonte Ros to serve on the Florida Center for Universal Research to Eradicate Disease (FL CURED) Advisory Council. Serving the needs of Florida’s biomedical and biotechnical communities, the mission of FL CURED is to “champion Florida’s efforts to cure diseases by engaging in activities that expedite the discovery of cures and promoting practices that accelerate the implementation of cures.”

“I have had the opportunity to give back to my state and my community through many boards—but to be able to make a difference for such an important cause is a special honor,” said Moore.

Created in 2004 by the Florida Legislature, FL CURED is a program of the Florida Department of Health, and is based out of Florida State University’s College of Medicine. Its 16-member advisory council functions in part as a “think tank” for recommending policies on biomedical research to the legislature.
