Moore Consulting Group Senior Vice President Terrie Ard addressed the Florida Public Relations Association-Pensacola Chapter (FPRA) on July 15th. Ard discussed various rules and strategies for effective advocacy as well as the key attributes many successful advocates possess. At its core “advocacy is about passion, leverage and influence,” said Ard.
“When change needs to occur, advocacy has a role to play,” Ard continued. “From support of an issue, increased funding from state or federal government, improved public awareness, development of new programs or passing and defeating legislation, advocacy is a key driver to change policies and programs.”
The Florida Public Relations Association is dedicated to developing public relations practitioners who, through ethical and standardized practices, enhance the public relations profession in Florida. Monthly programs focus on professional development for the public relations practitioner.
Terrie Ard is past president of the Capital Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association, and holds both the Accredited Public Relations (APR) and Certified Public Relations Counselor (CPRC) designations.
